Code of conduct

You agree to abide by our Code of Conduct at all times when attending one of our events. Our code of conduct helps us collectively create a safer, more welcoming environment for all.

Everyone is welcome

Respect others regardless of gender identity, race, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, religion, or other views. Everyone is welcome to participate fully. Be kind to everyone.

Harassment, bullying, or discrimination is not okay and won’t be tolerated. As class and event organisers, we reserve the right to refuse entry to any person, and to remove from our classes and events, without refund, any person who violates our code of conduct or acts illegally.

Safety is a priority

Watch out for each other, both on and off the dance floor. If you do accidentally collide with other dancers, or accidentally touch someone’s private areas, apologise and make sure everyone is ok before continuing.

Deliberate inappropriate touch and/or boundary pushing will not be tolerated.

We do not tolerate drunkenness at our events.

Communicate respectfully

It’s okay to let your dance partner know if a move or connection feels uncomfortable. If you are given this kind of feedback, take it on board and accommodate for your dance partner. Otherwise, please don’t offer unsolicited advice—even with the best intentions this can be unhelpful. Focus on improving your own dancing instead.

Participate at your own pace

It’s okay to say ‘no’ to a dance or any interaction with anyone, at any time. You don’t need to give an explanation! If someone doesn’t want to interact with you, for whatever reason, that’s their business—be gracious and move on.

Consent is key, make sure you always have it.

Our classes and events are social

Blues dance classes and events are a great way to meet people, but they’re not a dedicated dating scene! Please keep your interactions friendly and respectful at all times.

Be hygiene smart. You might want to have deodorant and spare tops available on hot days!

Covid-19

Stay at home if you have cough or cold symptoms. Mask are encouraged but not mandatory.

We’re here to help

Please let us know if you feel uncomfortable in class or at an event for any reason, so that we can provide support and address any issues.

When we all treat each other with kindness, thoughtfulness, and respect, we create an environment that everyone can enjoy!
